Just in time for Valentine’s Day, America’s favorite cookie is about to get a red-hot makeover. According to NY Daily News, Nabisco announced this week that it will debut red velvet-flavored Oreos in limited quantities starting on February 2. The treats will boast red cookies with a cream cheese-flavored filling inside. “It’s something that’s classic, but I think what people have done in the last several years is reinterpret it,“ says Janda Ludkin, senior director of Oreo North America, adding that the company first started tinkering with the idea of a red velvet Oreo about 12 months ago. Starting today, cookie fans can try to win one of 20,000 sample boxes that are being given away at OreoRedVelvetRope.com.
